Travel Poster Cunard Queen Elizabeth Queen Mary. Original vintage cruise travel poster for Cunard Line Queen Elizabeth Queen Mary by far the largest superliners in the world. Great artwork by Carl G. Evers (1970-2000) of the two ocean liners at sea showing the Queen Elizabeth in the foreground with steam rising from her funnels in front of the sunset sky and the Queen Mary sailing on the horizon. The British shipping company Cunard White Star Line was founded in 1934 by Cunard (founded 1840) and White Star Line (1845-1934) providing passenger and shipping transportation services on the transatlantic route until 1949 when Cunard bought out White Star. The RMS Queen Elizabeth was launched in 1938 as a luxury liner and sister ship to the RMS Queen Mary; she was retired in 1967 and scrapped in 1973 after a fire in 1972 during renovation in Hong Kong. The RMS Queen Mary was launched in 1934 and provided transatlantic passenger services until retiring in 1967; she is now a hotel and museum ship permanently moored at Long Beach in Los Angeles California.
