Sword of the Improved Order of Red Men, United States, circa 1900
Sword of the Improved Order of Red Men, the oldest fraternal organisation in the United States. Exemplary of circa 1900.
Decorated with silver plated metal fittings. The cross of hawks is formed by a crown of feathers, arrows, bow, battle-axe and other motifs, including the initials "UR-RM" (Uniform Rank - Red Men). Pommel forming an eagle on helmet. Iron scabbard, its openwork clamps show a flying eagle and two crossed axes. Blade with decorative engravings on the first half. Owner's name on one side "Martin Cline". Maker's mark on the bolster "The Henderson Ames Co - Kalamazoo - Michigan". Very good condition. Some pitting and stains on the scabbard. Blade in excellent condition.
Overall length 96,5 cm, blade 78,5 cm, blade base width 16 mm.
