Pair of Pharmacy furniture, 19th c.
Pair of oriental pharmacy furniture. Carved and polychromed wood. Possibly Chinese, 19th century. Each of them has an upper space enhanced with simple geometric compositions and openwork with a railing in the lower area; the body has a series of small drawers with handles (in a total of forty-two) and three wider drawers below; the lower area has two carved vegetal elements.
This type of furniture was used in apothecaries' shops and pharmacies, generally Chinese medicine establishments of a certain importance.
