Painting "La carga", by Roberto Domingo (1883-1956)
Watercolour on paper, signed by Roberto Domingo in Paris, lower right corner. Domingo trained in the French capital, first with his father, the painter Francisco Domingo Marqués, and later as a pupil at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, where he was a pupil of Antonio Muñoz Degraín. He took part in national and foreign exhibitions, winning third medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1908, second in the 1910 edition and first in 1915. He also presented his works at exhibitions held in Rome and London.
A painter of local customs, he specialised in bullfighting, which brought fame and prestige to his career. His work is represented in the Museo Nacional del Prado, Bellas Artes de Granada, Provincial de Cádiz, Museo de Historia de Madrid, Museo Taurino de Las Ventas in Madrid, Maestranza de Sevilla, Valencia, mainly.
