Lady's metal Duplex handbag, United Kingdom, c. 1912
Antique metallic lady's handbag signed Duplex and made from 1912, as can be seen from the two inscriptions referring to the brand name and the date on which this article was patented, 2 April 1912: "DUPLEX / PAT APRIL 2'12. Both appear next to the flap of the bag's outer clasp. Both sides of the bag are decorated with interlaced vegetal decoration, making it, together with its date, an object belonging to the modernist artistic movement known in England as the Modern Style. The interior has three separate compartments, the central one with a metal clasp. The use and some wear to this little bag is evident in the wear and tear visible on its main decorative elements. It retains its original chain. Good condition.
