Amongst the most prolific carvers of central Africa the Igbo tribesmen are renowned for crafting masks & sculptures for ceremonial purposes. Positioned with arms cut free from the sides, palms up symbolising open-handedness or generosity, as well as a willingness to receive sacrifices & other presents.
