A. Prosdocimi Watercolour - - An original antique Venetian watercolour by recognised Italian artist Alberto Prosdocimi (1852-1925), signed to lower left. Depicting a gondola sailing over the lagoon with St. Mark's Companile visible to the left. Framed and glazed. Circa late 19th century. Alberto Prosdocimi studied at the Academia of Venice. As well as a painter he was a respected manuscript illuminator like his father, and was commissioned by Queen Margherita to create an illuminated portrait of the Prince of Naples. Condition: fair/average, discoloration to the painting and some small spots. Frame with fault. Dim: frame 43x38cmm
