William Holbrook Beard : Rat Trap
William Holbrook Beard (American, 1824 - 1900): Rat Trap. Chromolithograph on paper mounted to heavy cardboard, signed in plate, unframed.
Born in Painesville, Ohio, William Beard painted anthropomorphic, satiric genre scenes with animals engaged in human activity, and frequently bears were his symbols for human beings.
14.5 x 20.5 inches board.
Private collection, Madison, Wisconsin, USA.
Condition: Good condition; board is has a slight concave warp; paper loss on right and left edges.
